 Beyond Hardware

Our Vision

Our vision is to present a solution to any potential customer, no matter the circumstances. We are backed by an ambitious staff with the drive to bring the customer the best possible service. The quality of what we offer combined with the care we provide is what makes us the best in our community. If you wish to not take our word for it, please ask our customers, as they voted to help us win the prestigious, Fairfield County Rotary Club Business Ethics Award. The award is based on five criteria: demonstrated ethical leadership, concern for customer, integrity, respect, and loyalty.

Our Business - A Little History

Slaters Hardware is an Old-Fashioned Hardware Store located in Lancaster Ohio. Our store hours are Monday - Saturday 9am - 6pm. We are closed on Sundays and Holidays.
The history of Slaters Hardware dates back to 1946, when Henrietta and Bob Slater founded Slaters Incorporated.  Our grandmother Henrietta, along with her two sons, Jim and Jon, operated the original Slaters Hardware on South Maple Street.  Albert (Bob) Slater, our grandfather, developed our real estate, Jim Slater created the hobbies shop, and Jon Slater created the lock and lamp shop.  We have the reputation of having everything that is to be needed, and commonly hear the saying, "If you can't find it anywhere else, go to Slaters."  Just come here first, and if we don't have what you need, we will either make it, order it for you, or direct you to someone that may be able to further assist you.  We often hear stories from older customers of Henrietta knowing exactly where everything was in the store at any given time, or stories of her shoveling loads of coal for customers by herself. Listening to these stories is always worthwhile and moving.

Our grandparents and parents were amazing workers and wonderful people.  Slaters Incorporated is now run by Lou Ann, Steve, and Jackie.  All are Slaters, some just have different last names.  Jon Slater Jr. was the manager of the hardware for years, but had to step down after he decided to run for Fairfield County Auditor.

At Slaters Hardware we aim to give you the service you thought no longer existed. We’re proud to deliver the kind of specialized attention that you simply won’t find in larger chain stores. Our store is comprised of trained specialists whose experience and helpful advice will help to ensure the upmost success of your projects. Don't be surprised if you come into Slaters and are asked if you would like some free popcorn, or a cup of coffee while you shop.
